Buffalo Acquires:
- 9th round expansion pick (STL) - 10th round expansion pick (STL) - 3rd in 2016/17 (STL)
St. Louis Acquires:
- 17th Round Expansion Pick (BUF) - 18th Round Expansion Pick (BUF) - 1st, and 2nd in 2016/17 (BUF) - 1st, and 2nd in 2017/18 (BUF)
The Blues are looking to build a team centered around youth, and I want to build for the future. I also want to put out a competitive team from year 1, which is the reason why I am getting late round expansion picks in return. I believe that I can use these to get some veteran players to make up for my teams youth and make me competitive from year 1. Losing my next 2 expansion picks was a tough decision because there are still a lot of good top line players left out there. However, I believe that the contracts that most of those players are on aren't ones that I can take on at this moment. I have built for the future and I already have some players on expensive contracts (Tarasenko, Stepan, etc...) I also have some other younger players who are due to make some money in the coming years. I need to leave some room for the extensions which is the reason I feel like I don't need my next 2 picks. Getting the 1st and 2nd round prospect picks for 2 years makes up for moving down in the draft twice.
Buffalo to confirm.

Confirmed.
After drafting more D than I initially thought in the first few rounds I wanted to acquire a few more picks before the end of the 10th to get some forwards. Looking at the current FA pool, I'm very confident I can grab some quality, impact players. While I think I'm giving up a lot, I'm hoping to make a run in the playoffs and we all know that we need to give in order to get. I don't have a problem targeting young guys in the later rounds to help build for the future in attempt to salvage having almost no entry level picks for the next few years.

Huge deal here, I do think Buffalo gives a bit much, but at the end of the day I think both of you know what they're doing, so I see no reason to refuse.
Approved (1-0)

Approve (2-0) Sabres acquires 2 additional expansion picks in the upcoming two rounds while Blues gains a nice package of prospect picks and picks up 2 later round expansion picks.

I do feel that it's a bit over the top from Buffalo's end but the drop off to rounds 17 and 18 is significant so it's enough to tip the scale towards approve for me.

Buffalo pays premium price for two mid-round expansion picks in order to help team now. Blues get nice haul and help the future value of their squad.

It has already been stated, Buffalo pays a premium to move up but two expansion picks will definitely help his team out right now.

Crazy thing about this is that I think Trent is still a cup contender. That's a well built team.
