I agree with Devin in his 1 hour thread, but I think 1 hour might be a little too challenging for a lot of people. I am lucky enough to have access from my phone at all times and live in the EST, so it's easy to check in and be synced up with the draft.
However, I can see how this is more difficult for other people. Reality for me is that you've got 12-15 guys who are really excited about the draft, and the league, and a handful who are busy or uninterested. Usually what ends up happening is we will have 4 or 5 picks by the more active GMs, and then all the time we saved on those picks will be used by the inactive GMs, turning a nice run into a 2 day affair where there is no action at all on the site.
For me, 4 hours is more than enough. There are times when I am in a meeting, or out and about, and I see my pick coming and I know I won't be able to log on for a while. With 4 hours, I have more than enough time to email my pick to someone or find time to make the pick.
The way it would work is you have 4 hours from the last pick to make your pick. Hopefully people are being decent and emailing the next person.

Disapprove (1-1)
Our drafting structure has worked so far so I don't see why it needs to change.
The reason why we have designated draft times is so GMs know the exact times they are drafting. Lots of GMs have families, kids, vacation etc. and designated times allow them to plan ahead and if they know they are going to be away they can submit their picks to the admins (this has happened about 10-15 times now).
Edit: Pats explains this well below.

Disapprove 1-2
For me, the problem here is time zones. Since I'm in a minority with a time zone 6hrs ahead of you, most of the "peak" hours for you guys I spend sound asleep. If I knew that my pick is coming along at odd hours of night I can organize properly. But If the picks ahead of me fasten up and my allocated rolling clock of 4hrs comes up sooner than I expect, there is a good chance I'm going to miss it.
