To NY Islanders Patric Hornqvist ($4,250,000 17-18) 6th rounder Fantasy Draft 1st rounder Rookie Draft (2016)
To Montreal 5th rounder Fantasy Draft 12th rounder Fantasy Draft
Some of you might feel like I'm paying a steep price just to get an extra 5th rounder, but I feel really confident that my two 5th rounder will be a slight upgrade on Hornqvist, not that he isn't good, I just feel like there are players with better upside out there. As I said on a previous trade, the rookie draft is a gamble and while I think you have to be good at draft to build a solid franchise, I don't mind giving my first rounder.
Thanks NYI for the sweet and quick negociations.

I accept. Hornqvist probably won't be with Crosby again, and even though he isn't on a great contract, he should still be a good depth guy for me. I haven't got to make a draft pick in a while, but I'm confident this is what's best for the Islanders. The prospect pick is for mext year (2015/16, correct Loik?) giving me 4 firsts in that draft. Good tradeing Habs.

Overpayment by the Habs imo but they're trading up to get their guy which happens all the time in the NHL. Tough to know the true value of the trade until you know who the picks will be.

Good trade for both sides. Hornqvist stll holds a lot of value. Isles pick up a quality player, only moved back one round and picked up an addition 1st round pick. Habs was able to get an additional 5th round pick as well as another expansion pick. With the amount of quality players still available in the draft it is going to be a high price to acquire an upcoming expansion pick.

It's an overpayment IMO, especially when you consider Hornqvist was picked with a 4th round pick and then you add your 6th + a '16/17 first.. I just hope the guy you want is still there by the time you pick Habs haha. Anyway I don't think this is a fair trade for you, but if you really want it I wouldn't decline.

Am I misunderstanding? Montreal is trading their 4th round pick (Hornqvist), their 6th round pick, and a 1st for a 5th and 12th?
Okay, I will be that guy who throws out the first veto. This deal doesn't make any sense to me at all. You are paying to move down in the draft.

Montreal paid a steep price especially cause hornqvist will play with Malkin or Crosby at all times but there are a lot of good players available still and it seems like Montreal has a plan and a good idea of who he wants.

No doubt an overpayment. However Hornqvist has really boosted his value since joining the pens and if he does move lines, then going from a line with crosby to a line with malkin is hardly a downgrade. We are still fairly early in the draft and there are many more quality players that Habs can select with the picks he's acquired
